Updates to SKY Codes. see TV & VCR Database for SKY+ Remote

A section for TV codes on Sky Remotes+.  I found very useful because it enables the AV amp vol up/vol down/mute functions in place of the same for the TV set using the Sky Plus remote. With the remote in the TV mode, the left navigation button operates the AV Amp on/off and the stop button the source selection. The up/down navigation buttons operate the TV volume and the right one the TV mute. Sky functionality is unaltered.

Sky+ Remote Setup Info

The Following Information Was First Made Available At The Digitalspy By AlanJ

Sky+ Remote Control Unit – AV Amplifier – Programming Procedure by Direct Set.

What?

This procedure is used to program or re-program the Sky+ Remote Control Unit (RCU) to operate the customers AV Amplifier functions.

Why?

This procedure is used when the RCU is not operating some or all of the customer's AV Amplifier functions. It is possible that either the installer may not have set the RCU to the correct code or the customer may have changed their AV Amplifier since the original installation took place. In such circumstances it will be necessary to re-program the RCU to the correct model of AV Amplifier.

How? TIP!

Before proceeding further place your Sky+ RCU on a flat surface such as the floor or a coffee table.

1. Turn on the AV amplifier you wish to operate, press the TV button on the Sky+ RCU (Remote Control Unit).

2. Press and hold down the Select then the 0 (zero) buttons on the Sky+ RCU until the LED (Light Emitting Diode) blinks twice.

3. Input the 4 digit number from the Sky+ RCU direct set code list pages. The LED should flash twice to confirm that the code was entered successfully.

4. Use the Left navigation button on the Sky+ RCU to try and switch the AV Amplifier into standby. If the standby button works then the other AV Amplifier functions should also work and the correct code has been selected. If all functions do not work correctly then repeat steps 1 - 3 and work through all the 4 digit numbers from the Sky+ RCU direct set code list pages until you find the code which supports all or as many of the AV Amplifier functions as possible.

Important

The most popular codes are sorted first within the Sky+ RCU direct set code list, therefore the codes should be attempted in sequence one after the other.

[note: The remote control will operate all functions on the digibox (whilst in Sky mode) however it does not support the functions on their AV Amplifier at the current time. You must therefore keep your AV Amplifier RCU to hand to control the amplifier functions.

This is not a fault with the remote or the customer’s amplifier. We may have codes in the future which will enable the Sky+ remote to work with your amplifier functions.]

*** The manufacturer periodically changes the embedded codes to reflect current AV amp models thus newer remotes may not control older amps and vice versa thus deleted codes have been included in the listing. Revision "REV 6" (under battery cover) was current during summer 2006.

AV Amp Volume/Mute Control Punch Thru

If your Sky+ remote is fairly new or you have the Sky Navigator remote it may be possible to set the normal volume/mute controls to work your amp rather than the TV. And without pressing the TV key!

Proceed as follows

1. Program the remote as detailed above to control your amp using the arrow keys in TV mode.

2. Press TV Key

3. Hold down select and press 1 until the remote's LED flashes twice (if it only flashes once or remains on steady I'm afraid your remote does not support this feature).

4. Press Sky key and enjoy.

To reverse the process press select and 2 rather than 1.

Thanks to Digitalspy forum member abailey for discovering this very useful feature.

The usual disclaimers that go with playing with undocumented featured of hardware please be careful and you can't blame us or Sky if it stops working - as far as I know none of this is supported! So technical support at Sky won't be able to help so don't ask them or we won't get any more good info :) Have fun and take care.
